For all journals, the review and acceptance process for IES 2025 Special Issues has already started and will proceed continuously as submissions arrive. Some papers have already been accepted and, in some journals, published online first. We encourage you to submit early and not wait until the deadline, because each special issue can only accept a given number of manuscripts.
The new deadlines for the IES2025 associated Special Issues are:
- Applied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry – 30 April 2026
- Statistical Papers – 30 April 2026
- Quality and Quantity – 1 January 2026
- Communications in Statistics: Case Studies, Data Analysis and Applications – 30 April 2026
APPLIED STOCHASTIC MODELS IN BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY
TITLE: Evaluating Quality of Industrial Products and Services
Guest editors: Rosa Arboretti (rosa.arboretti@unipd.it), Francesca Bassi (bassi@stat.unipd.it)
This Special Issue is designed to provide an overview of statistical approaches and methodologies for evaluation in its broader sense, encompassing the quality of products and services. Thanks to the involvement of the European Network for Business and Industrial Statistics (ENBIS) and the International Society for Business and Industrial Statistics (ISBIS), special attention will be given to statistics and data science methods, and the special issue welcomes the submission of papers from various industrial and service fields, as well as from experts and managers involved in development policies, which present methodological novelty and a strong application in business and industry.

STATISTICAL PAPERS
TITLE: Advances in Quality Evaluation: Statistical Methodologies and Applications
Guest editors: Luigi Salmaso (luigi.salmaso@unipd.it), Marica Manisera (marica.manisera@unibs.it)
This Special Issue is dedicated to studies about critical assessment of statistical methods, focusing on methodological foundation and applied research related to the statistical evaluation of quality. We particularly stress statistical methods that have broad applications, giving special attention to those relevant to the economic and social sciences. We welcome contributions on the development of innovative statistical methodologies as well as original empirical applications, covering all topics of modern data science, such as frequentist and Bayesian design and inference, as well as statistical learning.

QUALITY AND QUANTITY
TITLE: Statistics and Data Science for Evaluation and Quality
Guest Editors: Kuniyoshi Hayashi (hayashikuni@kyoto-wu.ac.jp), Christophe Ley (christophe.ley@uni.lu), Amalia Vanacore (amalia.vanacore@unina.it)
This Special Issue aims to explore the critical role of statistical methods and data science in the evaluation and enhancement of quality across various domains and to provide a comprehensive overview of how statistics and data science are transforming the landscape of quality evaluation and offer insights into future trends in this dynamic field. Statistics and Data Science for Evaluation and Quality invites contributions that showcase innovative applications of statistical methodologies, machine learning, and data analytics in the assessment of quality in sectors such as healthcare, education, manufacturing, and services. Emphasis is placed on multidisciplinary approaches that exploit modern data science tools to address complex evaluation challenges. Papers highlighting case studies, methodological advancements, and novel frameworks that improve the reliability, validity, and effectiveness of quality assessments are particularly welcome.

COMMUNICATION IN STATISTICS: Case Studies, Data Analysis and Applications
TITLE: Innovative Statistical and Probabilistic Methods for Evaluation
Guest Editors: Maurizio Carpita (maurizio.carpita@unibs.it), Pasquale Sarnacchiaro (sarnacch@unina.it)
This Special Issue is dedicated to statistics and probability research for the evaluation. We particularly welcome research exploring novel sampling, data analytic and fitting methods suitable for the analysis of big data. Submissions on original statistical and probabilistic methodologies for empirical applications and case studies are encouraged. Relevant topics include data analysis from large-scale clinical trials, sociological and political studies, data analysis of industrial experiments and applications within public administration, healthcare, and social sectors.
